This Could Be a Way for You and I To Get a Book Written Quicker by Using an “Episode-Style” Approach to Writing.
I perused this when it came out a while back, and now I am going to take a closer look at what Kindle Vella is all about.
What is Kindle Vella?
According to the beginning page in Kindle Direct Publishing:
NEW Manage Kindle Vella Stories
Create and manage your Kindle Vella stories, one episode at a time.
This already sounds quite intriguing. Imagine if we want to write a book, but simply don’t have the will power to do it, then it would seem to me, that we could simply write one chapter at a time. This would then be referred to as an “episode”.
There might also be a few drawbacks here though, because other bloggers that I regularly talk to that are in other certain countries have mentioned to me that you can look at the first episode, but any others are not available. We must be diligent to determine what countries Kindle Vella is available in.
A Brief Overview of the Introductory Publishing Pages
You, of course, can go to Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing‘s page and view these for yourself.
The above image is the first part. Everything seems straightforward enough, so far.
I’m going to end up having to write a Vella episode to be more familiar with how this works. This is how we all learn things. I believe that this is a FREE service too, just like everything else is on the KDP platform.
There are a couple of lines, I have left out on purpose, but, so far what we are examining seems pretty straight forward. When I upload a story or book image, I usually use 600 X 450 mexapixels, but you may adjust accordingly as per your own needs or requirements. Many times when you are first using something for the first time, it requires a little trial and error.
How Do You Get Paid For Kindle Vella Episodes?
Readers interested in an episode of a story you are writing in Kindle Vella can purchase tokens in order to “unlock” the story. The first three episodes of any Kindle Vella Story are FREE. This is to insure a good reader experience, meaning that the fourth episode will require a repeat reader to purchase tokens to unlock that episode.
Here is a video from Amazon describing Kindle Vella in more detail:
Kindle Vella Might Be the Way to Go, If You Are Just Starting Out As a Writer
It will definitely get a budding author’s feet wet with their first attempt at writing a book! For more experienced writers, this seems like a quicker way to write that next book.
I will do another post soon when I experiment with Kindle Vella.
Stay tuned, and until then, KEEP WRITING!
