If You Are considering Trying This Platform, It Might Be Worth Your While, Especially If You Are Unsure of Your Writing Ability
As I am coming to understand more of Kindle Vella, I am convinced that this might be THE way to get your work out there sooner, as opposed to attempting to write a complete novel, and then market that.
As I said in a previous post, I learned that the first three “episodes” (essentially Chapters of your prospective book) are offered to potential readers for free. Beginning with the fourth episode that you write, if the readers are still interested, they will have to buy a certain number of tokens to unlock that episode. I am still researching what those might cost and how many are required, although, I suspect that it might have something to do with word count of the episode. I have, so far, been able to determine that the word count needs to be between 500 and 3,500 words.
Make Sure To Leave Your Episodes With a “Cliffhanger”
It stands to reason that readers will want to see what happens next in the story. If you leave each episode (chapter) with a distinct outcome, then that might defeat the purpose of them wanting to read more–at least in my opinion.
As authors, we should leave a little uncertainty to promote further intrigue. If things are too cut and dried, our readers might lose interest.
I Did Finish the Second Episode and It is Now in Review
If all goes well, and it goes live (as episode one already has), then it will be released on October 15, 2022.
You should take note at the bottom of the image that Episode one (in green) is already live. The gray is Episode two in draft awaiting review.
This is exciting stuff, and I will do another post on this as things progress.
Until then, KEEP WRITING!
