Why? For one thing, the weather is not always the best, and the temperatures are cooler, and because I am a self-employed locksmith going on 33 years now, my work tends to slow down quite a bit during the end of the year.
I simply tend to get a lot more writing done at this time, the holidays, notwithstanding.
Truthfully, This Is An Author’s Discretion! There Is No Right Or Wrong Decision.
It is up to all of us authors and budding authors to make the decision that works best for us and our situations.
I am not saying that I don’t write all during the year, because I do, but I feel like I get more productivity in the writing department in the last portion of each new year!
The one thing that I do like is that writing can be done any time the “muse” prompts us to do so.
I wrote the bulk of my Bermuda’s Secret Series during the fall and winter of 2019 through 2021.
It went from legal pads to typed manuscripts. Then it was eBooks in Amazon’s Kindle Direct Publishing, and then finally going into paperback form. It was a long labor of love, and that is how we should view all of our books.
This was a series that was conceived when I was 11 years old, and doubled down on when I was in the US Army from 1985-1991, and then after a long lapse when I started my own business, and a tragedy in 2015, when I had part of my right foot amputated, I finally got serious, got all volumes copyrighted with the US GPO, and about 6 years later had the first series completed.
I am 56 years old now, and have been working on the sequel series. It is moving along slowly, but it IS moving along. The work of an author, especially when you are writing a series (I have several stand-alone books too) is truly never done.
Keep These Things In Mind As An Author or Budding Author!
Just “put the pen” to paper and get started. Until you get started, this will only remain a dream!
Until then, everyone, KEEP WRITING!
