Why are Rainy Days the best days to write a book?

It is because we are not distracted by outdoor activities.

Stormy and Rainy Day

As much as I detest rainy days, they are a blessing in disguise. This is because they essentially trap us indoors and we must re-direct our ambitions to indoor activities! Enter the ever-handy computer, and all the temptations that it presents!

Often times when bad weather presents itself, for me it can constitute a CREATIVE boon in discovering something to write about! Aside from the book series I have written, along with several side projects, I also have several partially written manuscripts lying around.

Anytime that bad weather comes, I simply write a little in each, or even come up with a new idea! Productivity abounds! You need only to look around and discover it.

Anytime that I might have writer’s block, which I seldom do, thankfully, I simply start writing–about anything that comes to mind–and before I know it, I am on a roll!

I wrote my stand-alone book, The County, on a three-day stretch of rain, when my work and other outdoor activities were essentially stymied! It simply shows what we CAN do when we put our minds to it!

Of course, I can also attribute this ability of mine to my furry assistants, the Blog Dogs!

The Blog Dogs–Star (L) and Shadow (R)

They inspire me to keep writing even when I don’t necessarily want to. I attribute a good portion of my success to them!

There is also one other unsung blog assistant, Kitty, who essentially assists only with my blog posts that I write.

Kitty

She is the assistant that keeps me centered overall. She is 14 years old and keeps me centered on the current task at hand.

Many other writers have similar assistants like this, but don’t worry if you do not, because there are also many other writers who derive their inspiration from many other sources.

I’m just relating to you what works for me! Whatever works for each individual writer is always best. There is no one-size-fits-all method, and don’t let anyone tell you different!

I urge you to try on the next long rainy day to simply start writing whatever comes to mind. You might be surprised with the results!

Before you know it, you will have an eBook!
