Consider Copyrighting Your Images
I currently have THREE image eBooks. They are not available in print form (yet) because when I tried to offer them in paperback form, the images were in black and white. I felt that this denigrated my images to such an extreme that they were not worthy of even looking at because a lot of the images suffered going from color to black and white, and did not warrant the extra expense to people who might have been interested in purchasing them in paperback form.
I am still pursuing an idea to get them printed in COLOR.
I have been encouraging an acquaintance that I know to publish her AWESOME bird photos into print form–first, as an eBook. These photos, in my opinion, would be better showcased in a hardcover coffeetable book. Amazon Kindle has recently started offering a hardcover book option, but I am not sure they could accommodate this size of book.
Nevertheless, I know that there are many other resources for such things, even if she has to offer them to a physcial mainstream publisher. The pictures are truly that good!
Below are the covers of the three image eBooks I currenlty have for sale on Amazon Kindle:
These books are obviously only available as eBooks since I found, when I tried to offer them in paperback form (before there was a hardcover option in Kindle Direct Publishing) that the pictures were in Black and White. (Of course, this might require a re-visit by me soon to double-check this information).
That certainly does not bode well for image books.
My images are not copyrighted, which means that users may click and copy. The primary reason for this is that I am a complete amateur when it comes to photography. This is strange because I have a vintage camera collection of well over 7,000 pieces (this also includes vintage equipment and accessories).
Nevertheless, I am definitely an amateur. The images are unique though, because cloud (and Sun) formations change constantly. There will never be the same image again once captured.
I am not saying that Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing does not offer color options, but when I published these, I could not find the option in the paperback section. This means that, if you decide to publish an image book, make certain that you do your own due-diligence!
Just my thoughts for the moment! We will revisit this again!
